The Haus Rules

Your haus is your team, your family, and your ally. The other hauses are your friendly rivals. Points are awarded throughout the season, and the Haus with the most points wins the ultimate honor:

The Prize

The winning haus gets to “theme” the End-of-Year Banquet in their Haus Mother’s style.

  • Or a Gaga outrageous spectacle.

 

How You Are Sorted

Every singer takes a short Haus Sorting Quiz at the start of the season. The quiz helps determine which haus’s spirit fits you best.

But it’s not just about personality. When sorting, leadership also ensures that each haus has an equal number of members and that the hauses together form a balanced ensemble. The result? Four powerhouse teams, each with its own style, but equally strong.

How to Earn Points

Points are awarded for things like:

  • Showing up and standing out

  • Acts of kindness

  • Memorizing music early

  • Being a cheerleader for others

  • Suggesting great ideas

  • Going the extra mile

  • Selling tickets, asking for donations, recruiting new singers

  • Representing IMC at external events like tabling or media appearances

  • Doing something hilarious, brilliant, or heartwarming that makes the IMC better

…and much more, including unexpected surprises.

Who Decides

Points are primarily awarded by the Directors: Greg and Jared, who are always on the lookout for point-worthy moments. Stephen may also give points occasionally. Chorus Managers can recommend moments to the Directors if they spot something exceptional.

Translation: Keep doing great things, and someone will notice.

A Few More Important Things to Know

  • You can’t lose points. Ever. Your Haus keeps every point it earns.

  • You can’t beg, bribe, or bargain for points. But you can always FAAFO.

  • Point totals are updated regularly on the Singer page of the IMC website, so check there to see where your Haus stands.

  • Updates may also appear at random times, usually when it causes the most suspense and drama.

Q: Is there a list of things I can do to earn points?
A: No official list. Points happen when the Directors see something amazing. Think of it as spontaneous applause. If you shine, you’ll be rewarded.

A: Not a chance. Nice try though.
