The Next Chapter of the Indianapolis Men's Chorus begins at Butler University

A New Home. A Stronger Future.

The Indianapolis Men’s Chorus is entering one of the most exciting periods in our history.

We’ve grown. Our audiences have grown. Our partnerships have grown. And the role IMC plays in the lives of our singers and our community continues to grow with them.

Now, as we begin our 37th season, IMC is establishing a new home at Butler University and joining the Butler Arts Collaborative.

But a new home is only part of the story.

Next Chapter is about building the people, resources and financial strength to ensure that the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus doesn’t simply grow bigger, we grow stronger.

Look How Far We’ve Come

The Indianapolis Men’s Chorus is a very different organization than it was just a few years ago.

Our singer membership has nearly doubled, growing from approximately 55 singers to more than 100. But the growth of IMC extends far beyond the number of voices on stage.

Our Board has grown. Community partnerships have expanded. Support from individuals, foundations and corporate partners has increased. And IMC is showing up in more places, working alongside more organizations and building deeper connections throughout Indianapolis.

We are increasingly part of the cultural and civic life of the city we call home.

At the same time, we have continued investing in the singer experience—eliminating singer dues, reducing financial barriers to participation and creating more opportunities for singers to connect, perform and serve their community.

This growth has opened doors we couldn’t have imagined just a few years ago.

It also asks something of us.

The organization supporting more than 100 singers, broader programming and deeper community relationships must grow along with them.

That’s what Next Chapter is about.

A New Home at Butler

Beginning with our 37th season, the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus will make its new organizational home at Butler University.

IMC will join the Butler Arts Collaborative, with our administrative offices and regular rehearsals based in Lilly Hall.

For the first time, our organizational home places IMC within a larger community of artists, educators, students and arts organizations.

The physical space matters. But the possibilities created by being part of an artistic community matter even more.

We see opportunities for new relationships, shared ideas and collaborations we haven’t even imagined yet.

This isn’t simply a move. It’s a foundation for what comes next.

What Comes Next

Our growth has created extraordinary opportunities—and new responsibilities.

Next Chapter focuses on three areas that will help ensure IMC has the foundation to thrive for years to come.

A Home for IMC

Our new home at Butler gives IMC a place to work, rehearse, gather and grow.

Next Chapter will help us establish that home and provide the equipment, technology and resources our singers, artistic team, staff and volunteers need to do their best work.

Investing in People

An organization of more than 100 singers requires a different level of infrastructure than an organization half its size.

Over the coming years, IMC will continue investing in the artistic and administrative leadership necessary to support our singers, expand our programming and sustain the quality our audiences have come to expect.

That means strengthening existing leadership positions, building additional staff capacity and investing in the artists and professionals who help bring our work to life.

Building for the Future

Growth is meaningful only if it is sustainable.

Next Chapter will strengthen IMC’s long-term financial foundation through annual support, multi-year commitments, endowment investment and planned giving.

We aren’t only planning for next season.

We’re building for the next generation of IMC singers.

Be Part of the Next Chapter

Every chapter in IMC’s history has been written by people who believed this organization mattered.

Singers. Donors. Volunteers. Audience members. Community partners. Friends.

Now we’re inviting you to help write the next one.

Your investment can help IMC establish our new home, strengthen our artistic and organizational leadership, remove barriers for singers and build the financial foundation that will sustain this organization for generations.

More Than a Place to Sing

For more than three decades, people have come to IMC because they love music.

But they stay for something more.

They find friendship. Community. Confidence. Joy. A place to belong.

For some, joining IMC changes a Wednesday night.

For others, it changes a life.

That is what we’re investing in.

Not simply concerts.

Not simply rehearsal space.

Not simply an office.

We’re investing in a place where people find their voices, and one another.
