Our Mission
The Indianapolis Men’s Chorus entertains, educates and promotes inclusive community through musical excellence.
Building Community Through the Power of Music
Now in our 36th season, the IMC is a volunteer chorus that gracefully interprets a wide variety of repertoire with agility and spirit.
The Indianapolis Men’s Chorus (IMC) brings together over 100 singers from across Indiana to entertain, educate, and inspire through powerful choral performances. Founded in 1990, IMC uses music to create visibility for the LGBTQ+ community, foster belonging, and celebrate diversity through artistic excellence.
For more than three decades, IMC has been a proud voice for inclusion and unity, blending artistry, humor, and heart to share stories that connect us all. Whether performing classical masterpieces, Broadway hits, or uplifting pop anthems, the IMC reminds audiences that harmony is both a sound and a way of life.
Our Story
Born from courage during a time when being openly gay in Indiana was an act of bravery, the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus began as a small group of voices determined to make a difference. Over the years, it has grown into one of the Midwest’s most respected LGBTQ choral organizations, performing for thousands annually.
From its early days singing, IMC continues to push creative and cultural boundaries.
Community and Impact
The IMC is more than a chorus, it’s a community of voices creating change. Through outreach programs like The Echo Project, IMC singers bring music and conversation into schools, senior communities, and public events across Central Indiana. These programs use the arts to spark dialogue about belonging, identity, and empathy.
Our performances support local nonprofits, strengthen cultural understanding, and remind audiences that the arts are essential to a healthy, connected city.
Who We Sing For
We sing for the dreamers, the allies, the believers, and everyone who’s ever needed a place to belong.
We sing for those who came before us, and for the generations still finding their voices.
We sing for Indianapolis, to make it a more inclusive, more compassionate, and more joyful place to call home.
